About the movie :

Indian superstar Prabhas’s new movie The Rajasaab was released on January 9, 2026, during the Sankranthi festival. The film created huge excitement among fans even before its release.

Along with Prabhas, the movie features Malavika Mohanan, Nidhhi Agerwal, and Ridhi Tiwari as the female leads. The film is directed by Maruthi and produced by People Media Factory.

Veteran actors Sanjay Dutt and Zarina Wahab play important roles as grandfather and grandmother in the movie. Boman Irani also appears in a special role. Apart from them, Satya and Samuthirakani play key characters that add depth to the story.

The Rajasaab is made in the horror-comedy genre, offering a mix of scares and entertainment. The music is composed by Thaman, while Karthik Palani handled the cinematography.

Plot :

Gangamma is an elderly woman who suffers from memory loss. For many years, she has been waiting for her husband, Kanakaraju, who disappeared long ago. Even after all these years, she still hopes that he will return one day.

Seeing his grandmother’s condition, her grandson Rajasaab decides to find his Missing grandfather. During his search, he learns that Kanakaraju was last seen in Hyderabad. Determined to bring him back, Rajasaab travels to Hyderabad. His childhood friend Anitha supports him by giving him money for the journey.

After reaching Hyderabad, Rajasaab meets Bessy, a devoted nun, and instantly falls in love with her. Around the same time, he also meets Bhairavi. However, when Rajasaab finds out that Bessy is a nun, he feels disappointed. Gradually, he starts connecting more with Bhairavi.

Meanwhile, the story reveals that Kanakaraju in a royal estate, a man named Gangaraju, who worked in the same estate, stole valuable goddess ornaments belonging to Gangamma and ran away. Kanakaraju went after him to catch him and he never return back.

Unexpectedly, one day Gangaraju comes across Rajasaab and reveals the shocking truth. After learning everything, Rajasaab, along with Bhairavi and their Friends, goes to a haunted House connected to the mystery.

What happens inside the haunted House? How does Rajasaab catch his grandfather? What truth does he finally learn about him? How do Bessy and Anitha reach the mansion, and what challenges do they face?

Can We Watch This Movie?

The biggest drawback of the movie is its screenplay and editing. The editing feels rushed, and several scenes are cut without creating proper emotional impact. Because of this, some important moments do not connect well with the audience.

The director also struggles to present his ideas clearly. When the movie is running in a comedy mode, it suddenly shifts to horror without smooth transition. These sudden changes affect the overall flow of the film.

The villain’s character is not designed strongly. The movie does not properly show how cruel or dangerous he is, so the impact feels weak. Due to this, even the horror scenes fail to create the expected fear and intensity.

In the end, if you ignore a few weak scenes and don’t mind fast-forwarding boring parts, you can watch this movie once for time pass.

The story of Rajasaab was narrated by director Maruthi to Prabhas in 2022. It was initially planned as a horror comedy film. At first, DVV Danayya was expected to produce the movie, but later it was produced by People Media Factory.

The film’s working title was Raja Deluxe in the beginning. Later, the team changed the title to Rajasaab.

Thaman composed the music for the film, but the songs and background score did not receive the expected positive response from the audience.

The movie was released in multiple languages, including Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, and Malayalam, aiming to reach a wider audience across India.

For the first time in Telugu film industry history, a big star hero’s film faced advance booking issues in Telangana. The ticket sales were handled poorly — premiere tickets were released just 10 minutes before the show, and advance bookings opened only 2 hours before release. This created frustration among fans and movie lovers. Due to this issue, the distributors and production house missed out on strong opening collections.

At one movie event, director Maruthi confidently said that if the film did not perform well, people could come and question him directly at his address. After some fans felt disappointed with the film, a few of them reportedly created chaos by placing COD (Cash on Delivery) orders to his home address as a protest.

When the movie was released on OTT on Jio Hotstar, the platform promoted it heavily. Some excited fans even sent biryani to the Jio Hotstar team as a fun gesture. The team shared this on their official social media page and thanked the fans for their love and support.
