If you're British (or Japanese) you might remember Clive James used to showcase a television series called "Endurance" where folks underwent ostensibly painful stunts for the amusement of the audience. That was funny when I was a teenager and it was the 1980s. Now, almost fifty years later, this sort of frankly quite puerile humour just doesn't work for me as a collection of enthusiastic fifty-something's try to flog this very dead horse. Indeed, if they thought that would have got a laugh they would probably have used a real horse but instead they use a series of carefully staged faux-slapstick and loads of expletives to try and create a series of scenarios that just didn't make me laugh.
